Daniel Takacs

Playwright

Daniel A. Takacs is an award-winning playwright and director from Oberlin, Ohio. His original plays have been developed or produced by The Riant Theatre, The Black Experimental Theatre, Cleveland Public Theatre, and Boston Playwright’s Theatre. He has taught and directed theatre in Cleveland, Chicago, Denver, and in Boston, where he received his MFA in Theatre Education from Boston University, with a focus on playwriting and directing. Dan lives with his wife, Linda, his peanut Greta, and the twins, in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Allison Olivia Choat

Director

Allison Olivia Choat is a theatrical storyteller, educator, and activist whose work lies where directing and design meet voice and movement. Allison is Founding Partner and Associate Artistic Director of Cambridge-based Moonbox Productions, which is now entering its fifteenth year creating theater that celebrates local talent, uplifts new voices, and supports other socially-focused non-profits (www.moonbox.org). Recent collaborations include Covenant by John Minigan (Moonbox Productions’ Boston New Works Festival; world premiere); Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Moonbox Productions; Director), The Lion in Winter (Theater UnCorked; Director), Sugar (Fresh Ink Theatre; Dialect Coach), As Bees in Honey Drown (Theater UnCorked; Combat and Intimacy Coordinator), as well as guest workshops in voice and movement at Salem State University and Westborough High School and in public speaking at Harvard University. Offstage, Allison is an academic administrator and diversity advocate at Harvard University and a very occasional voice-over performer (Colonial Radio Theatre/ Penumbra Podcast); they also maintain a small private teaching studio focusing on voice and movement for performing artists and athletes. Allison’s work has been recognized with numerous IRNE and Elliot Norton nominations and awards. A bloodsoaked three-ring binder of thanks to Dan for trusting them with this fabulous tale, to Jennifer and Gabby for their tireless support, to this stellar cast for supporting their wildly unconventional definition of “reading” in “staged reading”, and to their mother, a dramaturg, for a childhood rich in Shakespeare.
